I remember when it took a brave brave soul to dye armour, not having a preview window to see whether it looked good or not.

I remember when i bought my first set of 15k, i was so proud, and then wore it for a year or so.

I remember when getting through pre-searing wasn't just a chore, but an enjoyable experience, and the utter desolation of post-searing, seeing all these familiar locations utterly burninated.....

I remember when you had to write down builds rather than being able to save them, and the fury at losing said word document, and the relief of finding it again /sigh

Not knowing level 20 was the cap, and getting angry about it when I found out. Now I'm very glad it is how it is.

I remember selling a stack of Jade wind orbs the day before an event in Shing Jea Mon. for 145K and the net day they dropped to 25K.

I remember customizing a green Grognar's sword because I didn't know any better... it wasn't mine.

I remember getting my ass kicked repeatedly by a large mob of undead in The Gates of Kryta, only to find out on the last attempt that we didn't even need to go anywhere near them to finish the mission and get the bonus.

Yup, that would be before I discovered the wiki.

so much has changed. i totally forgot about the runes looking different. Att refund points were terrible though, i'm glad those are gone. when keys didn't exist. man i miss the good old days. Especially when everyone was still nice and learning about the game together. that was all over by the time NF came around.

Nightfall (introducing Heroes) just pretty much tore everyone apart.
people, now with customizing henchmen, had no need for other players.

we'll all miss the old days of PUGs everywhere

Heros had little influence on PuGs, they were already dead. Titles are what killed the PuGs.

Well, titles had their role /their design makes soloing best way to get them ... not pretty/

But what killed pugs is experience and pugs themselves. When you get experienced enough to shake head on build of 1/2 puggers, grouping gets uncomfortable. and its not about taking perfect skill X instead of less perfect skill Y.

Add typical human nature to mix and you dont only get discomforted, you get to hate it.

Even without heroes and titles, it just is better for your peace of mind to take henches and get stuff done.

problem is that THAT gets dull... so there is choice of dull experience and havign stuff done or of unconfortable experience and usually failing.

neither goes well for game.

---

So we went from people grouping for each quest to people gropuping only for elite content.

and there is no way back sicne you cant take back experience that made people stop pugging at first place.

-My first plat. It was such an awesome moment
-When i tought that Prince Ruriks "fire blade" would be the best weapon in the game
-When i told my friend to do E/W 'cause then he could do nice damage with fire balls and attack with melee too.
-When i got to Yak's Bend. Snow everywhere, people at outpost, fire. It was so awesome.
-All "noob"-times were awesome. I loved to be noob.

Something 'not so noobish':

-When i first time soloed Bladed Aatxee. I think it was one of the greatest moments in this game
-possible the most awesome thing in Guild Wars: One rank9 player told me that my necromancer build is great. It was just so cool.

Default Things I remember

I remember exploring the beaches of Kryta and drake farming.

I remember when purple drops were actually sellable to people.

*Spoiler Alert* I remember when I saw the cutscene when Rurik died. I was devastated!

I remember doing nearly every quest in the ascalon area and getting so frustrated because I couldn't progress through the game. I didn't realize that that primary quests were the ones that went through the storyline.

I remember when I didnt know what salvage kits were for because the prophecies manual didn't even mention anything about how to salvage items.

I remember my first green - Tanzits Cleaver! God bless Sorrows Furnace.

I also remember having a hard time going to SF because no one wanted an ele or ranger, unless it was a B/p group.

I remember when only the really good players had Barrage!

I remember actually playing through Magumma Jungle and getting so freakin frustrated with the degen spells of the enemies and the confusing mission maps!!!

I remember seeing the Giant Bone Minions right outside of Ember Light Camp and finding them SO HUGE!

I remember when Villainy of Galrath was a really hard and rewarding experience!

And last of all, I remember doing Secondary Profession quests in the Crystal Desert, those were a pain!

I remember when Sup Absorb was almost always 100k @ the trader
Sup Vigor was 70-80k usually
Black Dyes was 20-30k
I had bows and offhands with +1 Attributes with no % chance - I really really miss those
When the first time I successfully 55'd UW - thought I was king of GW
People were generous and willing to help out new players
You could actually get a group. That didnt hate everyone else...
ALl the SF Greens were high priced :P
